A Message From Lohra Miller
Dear Salt Lake County Resident,
In 2006 you elected me to be your Salt Lake County District Attorney. At that time I asked for your vote because I believed that I could make a difference in our community through tougher prosecution of domestic violence and DUI and working together with others in criminal justice to improve the quality of justice for all Salt Lake County residents. Thank you for your trust in placing me in this position. The last three years have been incredible and the changes made have had a profound effect on our community.
I have come to appreciate the incredible people that I work with at the DA’s office. They are dedicated to making Salt Lake County a safe place to live. I can’t tell you how often I would find attorneys and staff working late, on weekends and even holidays to get a search warrant, prepare for a trial or meet a witness. They are truly heroes.
away from making
difficult decisions"
These years haven’t been without their share of complications or controversies. I came from the outside into an office that had been relatively unchanged in over 20 years and found that change presents unique challenges. I haven’t shied away from making difficult decisions and in every case I have acted based upon the best information available. My motto was to do the right thing for the right reasons and I have lived up to this as your district attorney. I welcome questions and hope that you take the opportunity to ask them.
I have worked hard to make the DA’s office a true partner to our community. Especially as we face a tough economic climate, we must work together to find more efficient and effective practices. I have worked with private industry, law enforcement, courts, probation, the jail, substance abuse and mental health treatment providers to collaboratively develop an innovative and promising plan for a criminal justice reform in Salt Lake County. Once implemented, these changes have the potential to save taxpayers money while improving the safety of our neighborhoods.
I have implemented the promised change from 2006, but much remains to be done. Please take some time to look through my website www.lohramiller.com or visit me on Facebook to learn more about what we have accomplished and what my plans for the future hold. Salt Lake County faces an exciting future and I hope that you will allow me to continue to be a part of it as your District Attorney. I ask for your confidence and your vote.
